THE CHARITIES GOVERNANCE CODE: PRINCIPLES OF GOOD GOVERNANCE

We, the Board of The Clare County Childcare Committee Company Limited By Guarantee commit to:

Principle 1: Advancing Charitable Purpose     

We do this by:

  1. Agreeing our vision, purpose and values and making sure that they remain relevant;
  2. Developing, resourcing, monitoring and evaluating a plan to make sure that our organization  achieves its stated purpose;
  3. Managing, supporting and holding to account staff, volunteers and all who act on behalf of the organisation.

Principle 2: Behaving with Integrity     

We do this by:

  1. Being honest, fair and independent;
  2. Understanding, declaring and managing conflicts of interest and conflicts of loyalties;
  3. Protecting and promoting our organisation's reputation.   

Principle 3: Leading People  

We do this by:

  1. Managing, supporting and holding to account staff, volunteers and all who act on behalf of the organisation.
  2. Agree operational policies where necessary, to guide the actions of everyone involved in our charity

Principle 4: Exercising Control     

We do this by:

  1. Identifying and complying with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements;
  2. Making sure that there are appropriate internal financial and management controls;
  3. Identifying major risks for our organisation and deciding ways of managing the risks.

Principle 5: Working Effectively     

We do this by:

  1. Making sure that our governing body, individual board members, committees, staff and volunteers understand their role, legal duties, and delegated responsibility for decision-making;
  2. Making sure that as a board we exercise our collective responsibility through board meetings that  are efficient and effective;
  3. Making sure that there is suitable board recruitment, development and retirement processes in  place.

Principle 6: Being Accountable     

We do this by:

  1. Making sure that the name and Registered Charity Number (RCN) of your charity is displayed on all our written materials, including the:  website; and email communications. 
  2. Identify our stakeholders and decide how we will communicate with them including planning; decision-making; and review processes. Also havening a procedure for dealing with: queries; comments; and complaints.
  3. Follow the reporting requirements of all of our funders.

Clare County Childcare Committee are fully compliant with the Charities Governance Code. 

The main object, for which this company is established is to support the development of quality, affordable, accessible and inclusive childcare and family friendly services for all children in the County of Clare.
